Photographer's Note

This is the first photo from the little travelogue that I made to the old city of Chalkis.

This is the bells tower of the Saint Paraskevi, the oldest church in Chalkis and one of the oldest at Greece.

Saint (Agia) Paraskevi is the patron Saint of the city and for a week (26th of July when it's her's birthay day until the 2nd of August) the city be host to a festival with many entertaiment and shopping options (Bazaar).

Short infos about the church:

The church of Saint Paraskevi, a wooden roofed basilika of the 5th to 8th century. The church is built on the ruins of the ancient temple Artemi, Apollo and Leto. During Byzantium it was dedicated to the Virgin Mary, «Perivleptos», but during the Turkish occupation it was turned into a store house and carriage house. After the liberation of Chalkida, the church was dedicated to Saint Paraskevi, the patroness of the town.
