Photographer's Note
Castle and Cathedral
This photo shows both Dresdner Residenzschloss and the Katholische Hofkirche (in English simply called Dresden Castle and Dresden Cathedral), but this time from a different angle. It was taken from Brühl's Terrace, which runs along the bank of the river Elbe. As you can see, it was getting cloudier and soon it started raining and we quickly went to a museum.

Hje Lars,
Gert

Hallo Lars,
Another great shot of Dresden with good sharpness. It is still possible to see the effect of the incendiary bombs dropped on the city in WWII with the blackened stones in the bg buildings. This attack was payback for the German Luftwaffe bombing of Coventry in the UK. As you probably know they also bombed Rotterdam and Warsaw. The Nazis were outraged that the allies dared to bomb them, but you can't go around bullying half of Europe and not expect repercussions. Still, it was a great shame the city lay in ruins as recently as the mid 1990's, & I am glad to see it being slowly but surely returned to its original state. Tfs!

Hallo Lars,
Vele groeten, Paul

Hello Lars,
Though you tell us about the inclement weather, it is not obvious from the brightness of the colours and the sharpness of the details.
I like your chosen viewpoint, which guides us down the steps, into the awaiting scene.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Lars, I like the inclusion of the steps in the foreground.
The buildings are very impressive, and this is a particularly good point of view.
The work site in the mid-ground does not detract from the view.
Excellent sharpness.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Lars,
Construction works are essential part of city life. And this time they are not too disruptive because all these classic buildings are well visible. I like your angle with good perspective down the stairs. That cart and the little kiosk are nice details.

Goedenavond Lars,
Schitterend foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Oost-Vlaanderen,
John

Hi Lars
Your pov is admirable: Very imposing historical architectures of the cathedral & castle bundled together and very nice light on it to highlight the features. We can see some on going civil works, whereas the mingling people provide necessary scale. Well done!
Best regards

Hi Lars,
Interesting that when I post less now you and other people post more often on TE. As if we were making sure that somebody keeps the website going.
I remember well this spot. Normally so beautiful but the construction discouraged me a bit there.
It is a great angle which allowed to include both the church and the residence from elevated perspective.
Excellent work,
M

Hi Lars.
Impressive monumental complex with the Cathedral and the Castle, both buildings make up a great view in that wide square, which we now see under construction, it hurts that some parts of the buildings seem to be blackened.
Point of view, sharpness, lightness, color and the chosen composition are excellent.
A very beautiful photo. I like.
Have a nice day.
Best regards.
Luis.

Hello Lars,
Both of the buildings are magnificent. Now we can see the construction in front of the cathedral more clearly - nice historic feature.

MT
