Photographer's Note
They use to hide in their dense forests and operate lots of windmills to shredder enemy aircraft. Veterans from the Hurtgen Forest or the Battle of the Bulge only know that too well. And they operate radar stations, one of which is just 100 m behind my back.
View southward from Erbeskopf (816 m), highest summit of all left Rhine bank territories of the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and northern France except for the Vosges.
It was even possible to catch a faint silhouette of the Vosges which would have meant a visibility of more than 90 kms.

Hello Sven,
A striking explanation in your info of this wooded German landscape.
The clear atmosphere shows how far the view is here.
Well done
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hello Sven
Interesting note to accompany your image. Otherwise it would not have had any value. Many wars over many centuries have played out here. But mother earth seems to hide the scars. I learned a bit of history...thanks

Bonjour, cher Sven,
Une note intéressante qui permet de mieux comprendre la composition présentée.
L'histoire et la nature cachent des lieux oubliés.
Amitiés.
