Photographer's Note
Every year when the Tour de France has finished
All over Europe you can find small Fairground races and the “Rhede City Night” is one of them where people can see the heroes of the Tour and here the racers earn their real money.
This was the race of the Juniors that took place before the main race that was won by Ivan Basso.
Taken with Canon Speedlite 420EX.

C'est étonnant cet effet; précision des détails de sspectateurs et apparence de feu follet des cyclistes.

Hi Hermann,
This is excelent capture and possible the best to me in this Serie post. The invisible racers to the eyes of the public, fine motion effect ;-))) and also funny. I like the enquadrement of all the elements in the frame. Your direct point of view is excelent. Good colors and a good composition.
Very well seen and done. Congratulations and have a nice day.
Fernando.

Génial ! On dirait une surimpression, comme si les cyclistes avaient été ajoutés. As-tu utilisé un trépied ?

I am in total agreement with Claude - brilliant use of the flas here, very "Pro" - this whle shot exudes confidence and a sure touch. A delight in movement with the spectators properly frozen behind the ghst curtain.
Great stuff!

Hi Hermann, An excellent effect you have made out from this shot. You can see the bikers clearly. At the same time, the view is transparent. An outstanding shot. Well done.

Again a great action photo with a high sense of speed rendered by the almost transparent bicyclists. Excellent idea with the flash, it elevates this one into an artwork.

wow, I need a better flash! I am really impressed... this is so cool... and not just because it is cycling and cycling is the best sport in the world, but this is technically the coolest shot I have seen in a long time. very well done.

Hi Hermann,
This one is even better than the last picture. Yet I wonder if you did try to freeze the cyclist and give the speed on the spectators.

Great composition - great effect here Hermann - this works really well - like the guy with his feet up on the rails and the capture of the cyclists faces - a good moment captured very nice technique!

Hi Hermann,
An original and effective capture which displays your great diversity of talent. The ghostly ethereal imagery is very pleasing here and the two cyclists nicely balance each other in the scene. The people watching also enhance. Incredible clarity here, Hermann. Very impressive work.

Another interesting photo of the bikers Hermann. In this one one may wonder if they are backing or going forward. It also looks a bit like a good old double exposure.
Anyway fun and creative job

ah, ah, just like ghosts in the picture, and still the spectators standing clear.
A good idea to show around the race... No idea about the technique, but I like it

And this is excellent creativity too! Great idea to use your flash in combination with the high speed of the cyclists here. Funny that none of the spectators on the other side of the street is looking at the cyclists that are caught in your picture. They really seem to be ghosts and that you were the only person that was able to see them!

Having a look through your back-catalogue....This shot is amazing. I've read everything on this page and still can't figure out how it was done. Just using flash sounds too simple. Was there some other elaborate technique?
