Photographer's Note
Every year when the Tour de France has finished
All over Europe you can find small Fairground races and the “Rhede City Night” is one of them where people can see the heroes of the Tour and here the racers earn their real money.
This was the race of the Juniors that took place before the main race that was won by Ivan Basso. The picture was taken with a long shutterspeed and panning technique.

I was sure that Claude would have appreciated this picture ;o).
I find it very succeeded, I don't know anything about the technic you have use but it is dynamic and well done, the speed effect is well rendered.

Great technique for a stunning result. It's a rare shot that captures motion so well, and this one has a very lively and dynamic feel to it. The colours of the racers seem to almost explode out of the frame. Excellent work!

Love this one a lot because of the cyclist but also for the good effect of speed, shapes and colors.
The panning on the central racer is very effective and the whole composition is beautiful;

Great panning shot, Hermann. Not that easy to accomplish with these very fast-moving bikers, but the feeling of speed that is rendered is fabulous, not least helped by the vivid contrast of the colorful jerseys against the brick walls in the back. Very good. There is a "panning" theme on TE into which I'm putting this.

Mooi Hermann, prachtig toegepastte techniek om de nodige dynamische snelheid van deze wielrenners weer te geven, de gevolgde renner springt er goed boven uit, perfecte kleuren hier.

Just a superb shot Hermann,
Sport images dont get the recognition that they should in my opinion. This technique is something that I have never tried, but I really appreciate the results. I am going to have to give a try someday.
Thank you very much fot this one.

Hi Herman
Please correct me if I am wrong ... but Panning from what I know is moving the camera along with the object in motion .... whereas this kind of effects seemed to be formed with the warped speed effects (moving the zoom) ... If you used panning, I am really way too impressed with the effects
Could you please clarify to me how you took this photo. much appreciation
Oh yes btw ... I liked the effects in this one a lot .... tfs ... cheers .... sarju

A really nice action pan Hermann - just enough focus on the 'The Flame' - great movement lines and a real leap!!!!!!!!! from castles and rivers and more static situations - really nice!
good work!

Hi Hermann, no time to read all the comments, but I don't think it'sd panning. I think you turned the zoom. It doesn't matter as the effect is very nice and very dynamic. Very colorful way to display racers. Different from your usual ones. I like it!

Very good sports photo. A pro work in fact. The slow shutter and panning effect is very well managed (even if I wished for the face to be just a little bit more focused). The motion blur and diagonal POV, together with the vivid colors portray well the action and joyful feeling of these events.

Wow, not only the panning is great here, but also your diagonal composition. And due to the fact that the cyclists are a different distances from your camera, they all have 'different' speeds in this picture. Very well executed! I tried a bit of panning too lately and will post one of those pictures soon.
