Photographer's Note
From 1939 until its closing on May 16, 1992, München-Riem MUC, only 10 kms east of Munich centre, was the city's international airport, situated at 48° 8′ 16″ N, 11° 41′ 25″ E. It became clear very soon that expansions were not possible.
The new MUC airport "Franz-Josef Strauss", situated 28,5 kms northeast of the centre at 48° 21′ 14″ N, 11° 47′ 10″ E was opened on May 17, 1992 (!).
The free airport area received New Munich Fair, Messestadt Riem (a complex of apartment and office buildings) and Riemer Park, a landscape park of 210 hectares including an artificial lake and hills. The park has since been the site of the 2005 Federal Gardening Exposition (BUGA 2005).
And there is still a short piece of the old runway.
"Alps visible" is a standard notice given in MUC weather reports now and then.

Hello Sven,
A beautiful park scenery, a great place to take an easy stroll and enjoy the beautiful spring colors.
A fine take from an elevated spot.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hallo Sven What a beautiful overlook on these cleaned-up premises that were formerly polluted by the scents of kerosene!
I appreciate the inclusion, at the lower left corner of your landscape, of the colorful view of complementary colors that constitutes a charming eye catcher. Auf wiedersehen
