Photographer's Note

Afternoon in the Marais. Marais has some of the most beautiful "Hotel Particuliers" in the city, one of the most aristocratic of Paris neighbourhoods. First place to be touched by the French Revolution, with the destruction of Bastille ripe it out from its most important monument. It evolved from the aristocracy prefered place in the beggining of the XVIII century to the hart of the industrial revolution in Paris in the end of this century. It was this late revolution that save the Marais buildings from the great husmannian transformations.

Built at the end of the XVIth century, this hotel takes its name from Madam de Chatillon. Inside, one can admire a remarkable freestone corner stair.
