Photographer's Note

View from "Le Grand Léjon" to the bisquine "La Granvillaise", mooring in the Chausey Islands.

Le Grand Léjon is the replica of a fishing lugger of the Saint-Brieuc area (Brittany), that has been rebuild in 1992. Like La Granvillaise, she is owned and managed by an association, and sailing at her board is possible.

Last August, Le Grand Léjon came to Normandy for a little while, and I was lucky enough to come onboard for a day. In the beautiful Chausey archipelago, Le Grand Léjon met in a quiet, beautiful mooring, the bisquine La Granvillaise (see my galery for more information about the bisquines and the Chausey islands).

Here, La Granvillaise has kept all her sails while mooring. Only one sail (the jib) has been taken off, and another one (the misaine) has been folded up to avoid catching the wind. The other sails help the boat align in the wind, and stay quiet.
