Sur le chemin du kiosque de Lescun , une vieille croix en pierre datant de 1913, avant sur le socle l'inscription "Ave spes unica".

O Crux ave, spes unica est une locution latine qui signifie : « Salut, ô Croix, [notre] unique espérance ». La locution est le premier verset de la sixième strophe de l'hymne Vexilla Regis, composé au VIe siècle par Venance Fortunat, évêque de Poitiers et poète chrétien.

Bonjour Denis,
A beautiful landscape with the rocky mountain peaks in the distance and the trees and houses nicely placed and perfectly lit by the sun in the foreground. Also the cross was very well included. The sharpness and clarity are splendid.

Hello Denis,
The cross is nicely designed and it makes a good foreground. Its impact is enhanced by the strong light from the side and the distinct darkness of the shady side. The pretty village and impressive mountains are basking in the warm light and counterbalance the cross nicely.

Hello Danis, Thank you for the explanations what means Avem spes unica. Nice cross but with a bit more than 100 years it is not so old. Marvelous landscape. Charming small houses and the church in the same style, impressive high mountains. As always, fantastic colours.

Hello Denis,
The old stone cross makes a fine focal point and is nicely counterbalanced by the background peaks rising up from left to right. Agreeable lights and colours and very good sharpness.

Bonjour Denis,

A fascinating note about this particular cross and the origin of that phrase, "Ave spes unica".

And what a delightful photograph, so well composed and taken as the sunlight appeared to decide to fall on the side of that little cross, so illuminating it brightly and making it stand out perfectly against its darker background of trees, buildings and mountains beneath a lovely blue sky.

A very fine composition with the cross perfectly placed in the frame, glorious light and colours and exquisite details and sharpness.
