Hello Everyone,

I've had a busy day today and am uploading much later than usual.

Yesterday, I posted a shot of seaweed fishing in Roscoff. Today, I am showing a very striking pier in the same town.

I have searched the Internet but cannot find any really interesting facts about this incredibly long pier, other than it is a rather impressive pier, spanning low tidal rocks to reach the ferries that commute to the Ile de Batz, roughly a 15-minute ride away.

We walked the length of the pier on a warm, summer's evening, which was very pleasant. I'm sure, when the weather is bad, it will be a completely different experience!

When I see places that never heared about, i tend to look up on the web, Beverly.
That way learnt new things about our world. It is exactly what I did with this pic., found something about this long pier, different from what we normally see.

Hello Bev,
A very impressive pier even though cast out of concrete. Strange how it seems to rise and dip again in the middle. The clever framing has created a wonderful long perspective toward the focal point offered by the rocky island. Like the textures to be observed in the concrete blocks.

Hello Bev,

A well composed shot with the pier starting in the bottom right corner to give strong diagonal lead in lines which enhance the perspective and provide good dynamism. I like the subtle warm cold colour contrast too between the blue sea and sky and the pale reddish magenta hued pier. Good sharpness and framing using thirds. Tfs!

Hi Bev,
I thought this was a bridge, it looks like one of those incredibly long ones you see in the US that travel for miles, and your POV on this enhances the feeling that it goes on forever. As you say, on a windy stormy day I think this would be a very different scene. Thanks for sharing.

A very interesting pier indeed and I think you are right in rough weather this would be quite a walk but also possible photo opportunity if the waves curl around it!

Hi Bev,

Impressive and long indeed, and your composition here accentuates that aspect to a strong degree. It's one of those pictures that is quite pleasing with minimal material...no need for anything big, outrageous or specifically noteworthy....just let the subject speak for itself. A wonderful job in capturing the long walk to nowhere...it does feel to go on forever. :)

Certainly not one for a cold day as you mentioned, that's a journey that might feel to never end, and nowhere to hide from the elements. Sharp focus and balanced light on all accounts, looks great! Have a great day ahead.

So how long IS this pier I wonder?
looks rather long indeed!

I like that you positioned the horizon line in that all important 1/4 or 1/3 area instead of 1/2...much better this way!

this pier reminds me so much of a pier in Florida, but anyways...love the long long lines and the concrete. Its real and rough looking.
