Photographer's Note

Today a picture as a tribute to Titanic, which we "celebrate" this week end the 100 years of its shipwreck in the night from april 14th to 15th 1912 off Newfoundland islands.

Here is a detail on MSC Divina from the quays of Penhoët basin in Saint-Nazaire. This cruise ship was ordered by MSC Croisières company and it is currently built in Saint-Nazaire shipyards (owned by South Korea company STX). The works are close to the end : MSC Divina will be finished very soon and will be inaugurated in Marseille on next may 26th.

It is something very impressive to stand close to such a giant of the seas. MSC Divina is 333.3 metres long (long as 3 soccer grounds !), 38 metres width, 59 metres air draft (distance between the water and the highest point of the vessel), 8.5 metres draft (distance between the water and the bottom of the hull). It has 18 decks and 1,739 cabins, it will host up to 4,345 passengers and 1,388 staff members. The passengers will benefit from many public areas : restaurants, bars, night clubs, a commercial centre, a spa, a fitness club, a 1,600 seats theatre, a casino, a video games room and of course a swimming pool with its artificial beach. A kind of little town, isn't it ?
