A cool flight of stairs in the Croix-Rousse hill area found thanks to Ricochet, add a few daring kids (these stairs are quite big actually!) and click, there you go it's in the box!
I was in two minds about posting another version without the wall on the left but eventually...

le sujet lui-même déjà, tout à sa joie de la glissade et puis le tilt qui renforce le dynamisme de la situation. Le mur ne me gène pas, je trouve au contraire qu'il cale la photo.

Salut Philippe,

Une photo qui donne le sourire. J'en ai une du même endroit nettement moins riante. Je la posterai peut etre une autre fois.
Si on y retourne, je ferai le modèle; faudra juste prévoir un pantalon en fin de vie :-)
C'st la tendance au N&B en ce moment avec les photos de Lyon. Ca va très bien à celle-ci: ça lui donne un petit côté à la Doisneau.
De même le cadrage tilté fonctionne. Je ne suis pas très fan d'habitude, mais là ça va vraiment bien.

aptly titled and a really imaginative composition. So well executed the atmosphere is palpable as is the sense of motion. Creative and attractive imagery. Well done!

Great bl/w urban street shot. The title is appropriate, as the boy's smile and pleasure shine through.

I'm not convinced by the tilt. Such a tilt can add dynamism and a sense of action (which might be appropriate here, given the subject), but the result here is a bit awkward, as the boy is sliding down (straight, according the basic laws of physics) and this tilt suggests that he is about to fall. Or maybe this is what you had in mind?

A nice and lively composition, full of a child's joy of life. The opposing diagonals are very attractive and give the picture good graphic qualities.

Il y a du dynamisme et de la joie....de la très bonne photo donc. Bon cadrage et choix du noir et blanc qui s'impose naturellement.

Une image originale et bien composée. J'aime le traitement n&b qui peut porter la photo à une autre époque où cet escalier devait également servir de lieu de jeu.

Sur mes pdv j'avais essayé d'éviter le mur mais comme le dit Claude cela passe très bien et l'attitude joyeuse capturée est vraiment extra, pile poil au bon moment et ton tilt offre une très belle diagonale!
J'aurais bien vu l'avocate sur la rampe!Lol!

Hello Philippe,
I agree with your decision, the wall adds a third dimension, improving the complexity of the image. The tilt, the stripes of the stairs... this is a play of geometry and lines, best presented in B&W. I am jealous of the kid's joy, but will of course not try the same, i did enough in the past :)

What a fine streetshot this is ! Is full of fun and graphical savoir faire and it's well timed too, with the boy close to a golden cut position in the frame.
I like the inclusion of the wall - it adds balance and urban grit. Fabulous work!

Bonjour Philippe,

Un petit air de Lartigue pour ce cliché très évocateur. Une composition méticuleuse, dynamique servie par un réel instant décisif. Le noir et blanc donne toute sa finesse à l'aspect soyeux des barres.
