Photographer's Note
Winter 2010 is one of the longest we've experienced in the South of France. Snow got really high this year as you see here in the village of Allos.
Snow felt so much this winter that to go thru that door (seperating 2 "gardens") one must bend completely and then hike on snow to finally reach the road on the other side.
I really felt like he was fighting against snow and try to escape...

more the kind of juxtaposition i prefer in street scenes..but i think a wider view with a story would have worked better..

Hi Prisley
It seems the weather is getting more extreme everywhere. Paradoxically, many centres in the southern hemisphere have recorded their hottest summers on record this year. Maybe the ozone layer is not as effective insulating the earth, as it used to be? Anyway, the arch frames the dark legs perfectly. Good graphism & tonal range with excellent sharpness. Merci!

Pris,
The unusual point of view works well here, and certainly illustrates the point of your note: A note which also makes reference to "fighting against the snow" - and there's certainly some correspondence between your photo and "war photography" - from any era in which men ran, ducking and nervous, between broken concrete.
Cheers
Colin
