Eglise de Saint Lambert des Bois.
In this Easter Sunday, why not a papagolfade which I dedicate to my friend Philippe !
This small church, very simple has a harmonious and beautiful architecture.
Admire this bell-tower and its tiles of wood and this small porch, the dating from the Xème century!
The commune of Saint-Lambert was strongly marked by the presence close to the monastery of Port-Royal-des Champs, which was the high-place of jansénisme of the middle of the XVIIe century until 1709, date of the closing of the monastery by order of Louis XIV.
The Saint-Lambert-des-Bois life was organized, right from the start, around the first vault dating from Xème century, then, little by little, around the Church and of the Cemetery which preserves the remainders of the Nuns of Port-Royal.
The commune was called, until the end of the XVIIème century, GERMAINVILLE. Since IVème century, the church was dedicated to Saint Blaise, bishop Armenian, of international reputation. In 1538, it was devoted to Saint Lambert, bishop of Liege, born in Maëstricht in VIIIème century, and its name was given to the village at the beginning of the XVIIIème century.

You show us a truly modest little church here. I like the many small beautiful details one can detect at this building and that you show it in its surroundings. It seems to be built for eternity. An overall good contribution here!

Elle est bien joli cette église aux couleurs ocres. Elle a bien traversé les siècles et possède son cimetière tout proche comme autrefois.

J'aime aussi beaucoup les églises.
Celle-ci a quelque chose de touchant, est-ce sa forme trapue, la couleur chaude des matériaux, le charme de son cimetière ? Sans doute tout à la fois, et rendu de fort belle façon. Du beau travail, vraiment.

Bonjour Jean Luc,

Such a beautiful little church, ancient, too! Very nicely composed and exposed, with beautiful colors and sharpness. Although I am not so much a religious person, I find myself drawn to photographing churches. Probably because they are generally so opulent and mysterious, unlike this quaint house of worship. Nice job!

Bonjour, mon ami Jean-Luc,
Un grand merci pour cette très charmante attention et cette dédicace. J'apprécie comme il se doit cet édifice religieux, son architecture, et son clocher à essentage en tuiles de bois, sa forme ventrue soutenue par des contreforts, son petit porche hors oeuvre, tout dans sa présentation impose le respect dû à nos aïeux bâtisseurs.
J'ai appris que nombreuses personnalités avaient vécues à Saint Lambert des Bois, notamment :
Blaise PASCAL - 1623 – 1662, mathématicien, physicien, philosophe et écrivain ; janséniste convaincu, il fit de nombreuses découvertes à Port-Royal, écrivit les Provinciales et les Pensées à Vaumurier.
Jean RACINE - 1639 – 1699, poète dramatique, élève et fidèle des Solitaires de Port-Royal, écrivit de nombreuses tragédies et fut historiographe de Louis XIV.
Nicolas BOILEAU -1636 – 1711...

belle photo de cette vieille église de toute beauté.

Nice shot of this stone church. The angle of the shot works well giving the photo a nice sense of depth. The grave stones add depth to the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

C'est vrai qu'elle est belle cette petite église de campagne avec une architecture particulière. La lumière n'était pas a son plus fort, mais l'église est bien présentée.
Le cimetière autour ajoute de l'ambiance! ;D

Je prefere cette vue a ta derniere car on voit la papagolfade dans son contexte et la luminosite d'arriere plan est moins forte
