LEES-Athas, a photo from Aquitaine, West

Photographer's Note

Lees et Athas sont deux petits villages de la vallée d'Aspe (sur la rive gauche du Gave) , formant la commune de Lees-Athas (268 hab). Ils sont distants de seulement 1 km . L'activité principale est l'élevage ovin .

Prenant un peu d'altitude au dessus du village de Lees pour prendre la photo , bien m'en a pris , puisque à cet en droit , la petite route était jonchée de pommes qui firent une tarte délicieuse.

Hello Denis,
Very good capture of this small mountain village, almost a hamlet one might say. I like very much the contrast in light and shadow between foreground and background; well managed it brings a particular mood to the composition.

Hello Denis,
This looks like a very pretty village of grey buildings and a small church built of the same kind of stones. It is like a giant spotlight has been pointed at the nearest area, whereas most of the view is shaded by dark clouds. It is an attractive view with very nice mountains.

A fantastic elevated pov with superb sharpness. The rough stone cottages with their slate grey roofs contrast well with the fg yellow green meadows and the bg hazy dark green and blue grey hills. Tfs!

Quite attractive composition, the church tower is on the right spot and the contrast between the sunny grass field on the foreground and the dark mountains in the background works very well. We get a nice feeling of depth...

What a wonderful coincidence - not only was your climb up here rewarded by this fine view but you were also able to collect some apples to bake yourself a fine apple pie! I hope the pie was as good as this photograph. :)

As with all of your photographs, the light here is beautiful and you have made the most of it, the buildings and the foreground pasture standing out brightly against a darker, shaded background. A fine composition with perfect exposure and exquisite details and clarity.
