The medieval fortress of Castelnaud of 12th 13th 14th 15th centuries, to Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, overlooks the valley of the Dordogne. Registered on historic monuments in 1980. Private property, opened in public.

Destroyed in 1214, during the Croisade des Albigeois on 1208-1249, the castle was reconstructed and strengthened in the 13th century with the construction of a donjon and a curtain wall .
After the Hundred Years War, the owners of the castle then developed the defensive device by adapting it to the artillery until 17th century. Abandoned after the French Revolution, become stony quarry in 1832, it was restored from 1966.
It shelters now a museum of the medieval war.

CASTELNAUD-LA-CHAPELLE is a french municipality, located in the department of the Dordogne of the Aquitaine region, populated 479 Castelnaudéziens en 2007, distributed out of 20.9 km², that is to say 22.9 hab/km².

The village of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle is one of the most beautiful village of France.
