Le fort Saint-Nicolas est un fort surplombant le Vieux port de Marseille. Il a été édifié de 1660 à 1664 par le chevalier de Clerville sur ordre de Louis XIV afin de mater l’esprit d’indépendance de la ville de Marseille. Le fort Saint-Nicolas a été classé Monument historique par arrêté du 14 janvier 1969. Wikipédia

Bonjour Philippe,

You have included so much in the one photograph; images showing different uses, different episodes in the history of the city and different lighting conditions.
The f/g is leisurely modern, bathed in shadows, the m/g is all about the sea and its activities, in evening light and the b/g, historically old and protective, is illuminatedby the low sun.
It's a very well composed and executed photograph.

A capture made at the opportune moment with the fort basking in the warm sunshine and the area below in shadow; it makes for a very atmospheric composition. Ideally exposed with excellent colours and clarity.

Hello Philippe,
It is slightly surprising to find this pool in the same photo as the large fortress, but it adds an interesting angle to the "postcard" of the upper half. The bushes provide a solid lower frame to this attractive composition. You captured the late sun on the fortress well and exposed the shady lower part equally perfect.

La distance entre la piscine et le fort donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails du fort Saint-Nicolas. La lumière fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journée.

On ne voit pas très souvent de photos de Marseille la magnifique à partir de ce point de vue très privilégié. Si c'était ton hôtel et pris de la fenêtre de ta chambre, je me dis qu'il y en a qui se la coulent douce.

Intéressante composition avec ce contraste d'architecture et d'atmosphère avec cette vue sur ce Fort et cette piscine en avant-plan, plaisante vue lorsqu'on se baigne ... Bonne gestion des contrastes de lumière entre l'ombre sur la piscine et la jolie teinte chaude sur les constructions en fond.

A fascinating combination of the old Saint Nicolas fortress in the background and the modern swimming pool in the foreground.
A combination that wriggles therefore is good that the pool remains in the shade and the fort in the warm sunshine.

The cool blue tones of the swimming pool contrast well with the sunlit rust red tones of the fort above. Good sharpness and an expansive panoramic view from this lofty vantage point. Tfs!

Beautiful capture with the viewer gets to concentrate on the amazing details from top to bottom. The shooting angle offers the necessary depth and love how the fg makes the eyes travel to into the main focal. Wonderful capture, Congrats

That cliff and the hill look like they are from the Middle East. Only the foreground of the pool and the thick greenery suggests otherwise.

Un magnifique contraste entre l’eau bleue de la piscine et les teintes roses des murs de défense.
Je soupçonne que la piscine appartient à un hôtel qui se vantera de son excellent emplacement.
