Village of Gluges, on the commune of Martel, at the bank of the Dordogne. (3 images).

The village is leaned with a protective cliff of the winds of north.

Gluges has a parish church, (3 images), built from 1856 and devoted on December 8, 1859. This church had as bienfaitrice Edith Piaf, which financed about 1953 the replacement of the broken stained glasses, in the condition of not revealing its gift before its death. (on October 10, 1963 with Grasse, old 48 years).

Born Edith Giovanna Gassion on December 19, 1915 in Paris, Edith Piaf is a French singer with the international career, of varieties which was also actress with the theatre and the cinema.

Gluges has a church Romance, Saint-Pierre with the Bonds, of XIe XIIe XVe centuries, semi troglodytic.

Martel is a french commune, located in the department of the Lot of the Midi-Pyrenees area, populated of 1467 Martelais, distributed on 36 km ², that is to say 41 hab. /km ².

Built in XIe century, on a causse, became the Causse of Martel. In XIIe and XIVe centuries during the One hundred Year old war, it was surrounded by two strengthened enclosures and was not taken. Delivered to the English by the treaty of Brétigny in 1360, Du Guesclin took it again in 1374. The city preserves a considerable architectural heritage.
