An image

It is a hamlet located at 5 km of the Mount-Aigoual, on the commune of Pousses, on the Méjean Causse, department of Lozere. The commune is populated of 86 inhabitants on a surface of 22 km², that is to say 4 hab/km². The inhabitants the Russet-red ones are of the "Roussois, and Roussoises".

The Aigoual mount culminates to 1 567 meters, climax of Gard and second climax of Lozere after the mount Lozere 1702 m and, is a south-eastern projection of the Massif-Central. the Aigoual mount is remarkable by its panorama, its climatology and its weather observatory, the last in France which operation is directly assured by the men.
High place of the history of the camisards and men of the maquis, it inspired by many Cevennes writers such Andre Chamson, Jean-Pierre Chabrol or Jean Carrière.

In this mountains of Cévennes region, one discovers very varied and wild landscapes.
Immense forests, moors, steppes, deserted tracks, brooks, water falls, canyons, swallow-holes and caves, plates limestones which one calls the causses, a vegetation and a typical fauna. One discovers there also people and their habitat, of the disseminated farms and hamlets, architectures which merge with the rocks.

It is a captivating country which one cannot escape from the charm.
