Photographer's Note

The Axe historique (historical axis) is a line of monuments, buildings and thoroughfares that extends from the centre of Paris (Louvre) to the west. It is also known as the "Voie Triomphale" (triumphal way).

The line begins at the central block of the Musée du Louvre, then cross the Tuileries Gardens, Place de la Concorde (Obélisque), the Champs Élysées, the Arc de Triomphe, , Neuilly, the new business district of La Défense (skycrapers) and ends at the Grande Arche.
