Wrapped at Night

One more photo of the art installation L’Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped by Christo and Jean-Claude before I return to my summer series. This one was taken in the evening, when the 30,000 square metres (recyclable) of fabric added an extra mysterious touch to the monument. In order to avoid a lot of motion blur of the many visitors, I decided to focus on the building and its more abstract lines and shapes for this close-up.

Goedenavond Lars,

Nochtans bij nacht gefotografeerd, maar perfect geslaagd.
Met de Franse vlag in de opening van "L’Arc de Triomphe"
De grijze kleur met overloop van schaduwen geeft een mooi effect. Bedankt

Hello Lars, a good choice to focus on the upper part of the Arc. The illumination has created some interesting lines of light and shadow. The black night makes the perfect frame.
The French flag completes the picture.

Det är skarpt och bra och perfekt exponerat, och flaggan syns fint i mitten. Men du kunde ha visat en helhetsbild med 'spöken' som WS. Jag tror att en massa rörelseoskärpa kunde ha skapat en spännande stämning.

The detail of the wrapping shows up much better at night and there is great contrast between the wrapping and the dark background. A good photo.

Hi Lars,
It is a great presentation of this extraordinary artwork.
And since it is temporary, your photos will become quite historic as not many of us were able to visit while the installation was on.
The black sky makes a brilliant background to emphasize the structure itself. I can better see that the lines are red now.

Mooie nachtopname, Lars. De ingepakte Triomfboog lijkt bijna tweedimensionaal zo, een vlakke potloodtekening met rode lijntjes erop. Heel knap fotowerk. Proficiat!

This spectral view masterly captured at night is quite suitable for the haunting Halloween season :)
So disguised, the Arc de Triomphe has a more powerful pitch than naked!
Thanks for your short stay dans la Ville Lumières, this oddity was worth the displacement!

Hello Lars,
Excellent close-up of the wrapped arch. The red strings are clearly visible, and the French flag looks nice underneath. If the sky had been captured during the blue hour, you'd have red, white, and blue in the shot, just like the colors of the flag. It's nice this way, too. :-) Take care!
