Photographer's Note

Paris, the Quai Branly Museum.

The museum called Musée du Quai Branly or Museum of Africa, Asia, Oceania and America arts and civilizations was opened the 20th of june 2006.

Wanted by the president Chirac, it reunites a large part of the collections of the Museum of Man and the National Museum of Africa and Oceania arts (Vincennes park) that has been closed.
More than 300000 objects have been transfered ; 3500 are shown in the permanent exhibition.
The inside is organized by continents and the path winds between the four continents.

Unlike the Museum of Man which gives priority to the civilisations study, the Quai Branly interests more about the art meaning of the objects.

As for the building, it was thought by the french architect Jean Nouvel.
It looks like a ship flying above the garden drawn by Gilles Clément.
The colourful boxes are exhibition rooms.
