Photographer's Note
Inside view of the staircase in the tower of Bengtskär lighthouse. At the scene I was first anoyed by the cables in the center. But they might give some depth to the image?
See this image for more information about Bengtskär.
A comment about my foot. :-) Yes, I know it's in the picture. It would be easy to remove digitally, but I think that is against the rules of this site. Dangling over the railing, not seing the viewfinder and working with slow shutter (1/25s) speeds was a little problematic. This was the only shot of *many* which turned out good.
I added a workshop image with the foot removed.

Excellent composition and I like the colours.
I don't know if you realised when you were taking it, but you seem to have included your foot in the frame (bottom left).

Hi Jon,
Excellent graphical image. I like the angle. Good DOF. At first I thought I was looking at an eye :)

Hi Jon,
Beautifully visualised ..it's perfect. I shouldn't worry about the cables, you are right they just add to the overall image.

Hello Jon,
good POV (and artistic as well - I guess)
The cable doesn't bother me at all. It looks like water floating down into a pool in the center. TFS

Hei Jon,
Dizzyin spiral view. I like the stairs and brick walls. It's well exposed too. Rules of TE allow editing out small insignificant details. But I like the foot there. Without it we wouldn't know if you were shooting up or down.

Hi Jon,
Nice capture, I love the spiral the stairs create.
No worried about your foot - as Kari said it gives a good indication
Good sharpness for such a low shutter speed..

A fine graphics made by the staircase - I like the reflections in the pole as well - thanks for sharing Jon.

Hi
There was a moment that I thought that the picture was taken from the bottom of the staircase. I was dizzy looking at the photo and didn't even notice the foot before reading the note.
Great one

Really like this shot. More unusual then a lot of staircases as there is a lot of asymmetry and varied texture. The exposure is great and the lighting very interesting too.

Hi Jon,
with this staircase you achieved a great composition. Looking at it I feel really pulled down into the staircase. On another view it reminds me a lot to a "technical perfect" snail house. Just excellent.
Thank you

Hello Jon,
First, thank you for the critique of my shot, "Eyes," expertly done, where you have cited the "centerline principle." For more information, you might take a look at a recent photo and note, "Virgin in Street Art," posted by the talented young Canadian photographer, Andrew Coppin (boots). I am happy that you also offered a very good comparable in Helene Schjerfbeck's "Painting of a Sick Girl." You are entirely correct! The child in mine was also under the weather; moreover, she had just woke up.
I am very much impressed by the almost-logarithmic spiral that your photo captures. When you observe — from the top or bottom at a circular staircase — e.g. Leonardo's design for the Vatican — the perspective will produce this type of spiral, in distinction to the Archimidean Spiral, or the huperbolic , etc. In your photo, the spiral is tightly wound as it indeed occurs in a lighthouse. There is a similar photo to yours at TE of a lighthouse in France, unhappily, I can no longer find it. My interest is from the vantgage point of scientist/mathematician/artist. (I wrote a book about the merger of these subjects that the excellent young photographer, Andrew Coppin (boots), cites in a recent posting, the "Virgin as Street Art." If you have time, take a look at his note and mine.
Warm regards,
Bulent
