Photographer's Note

This is Eira, an elite part of Helsinki. The shot was taken from the island of Uunisaari. During the winter, the sea gets frozen and the island gets connected to the land.

Eira was built on a turn of centuries in a Jugend style, and nowadays compounds the most expenisve block of flats in all of Helsinki. The average yearly income per person in this part of town is 185'000 Euros according to local newspaper.

Also, this place is the most popular "lungo mare." There are two very nice caffes where you can enjoy some fresh delies and relax behind big windows while its freezing outside.

It was a perfect day to take some pictures as the skies were extremely clear. Something which did not happen often this winter. I thought that this was then a great opportunity to take a panorama of Eira as also in a summer it is not so easy to get to this place on foot.

Technical note:
Not much post processing, except of course stiching in PTGui and all the regular stuff when you convert the shots from the RAW format to jpg.

P.S. There has been a similar posting of Eira by a friend of mine. I guess he was having more time than me to post it first, even though he took it one week later. Click here
to check it.

Cheers, Alan.
