Photographer's Note

The City Hall Square (Rådhuspladsen) in Copenhagen (København) is the place to be, celebrating New Year Eve in Denmark. The square is crowded with people and traffic on two of Copenhagen's most busy streets is at a standstill.

Usually when there's something to celebrate in Denmark - that might be a soccer triumph or a Eurovision Song Contest final - it is done at this square in front of the City Hall. It's the focal point of Denmark - for the locals as well as for the tourists.

It is a popular venue for a variety of events, surrounded by restaurants and bars. Located in the close vicinity of the pedestrian area Strøget, the amusement park Tivoli and the central train station Hovedbanegården. It's also used as a central datum for measuring distances from Copenhagen.

And by the twelfth chime of the City Hall tower clock, it's officially 2015!
