Photographer's Note

A late afternoon view of Korcula castle in the walled island fortress of Korcula. There are a couple of tourists relaxing in front of it. It forms part of the fortified walls around the old town and is like a miniature Dubrovnik. This section is known as the Zakerjan Tower. Massimo Cocktail Bar is located there. It is also named Berim Tower. It stands on the north of Korcula Town (see map below) in the Zakerjan area. The tower was built between 1481 and 1483 under rule of Giovanni Mocenigo who was doge of Venice from 1478 to 1485.
