Photographer's Note

18 km west of Varna beside the main road are these unusual formations which geologists cannot decide on how they were formed. They look like a petrified stone forest. Perhaps they are fossilized stromatolites or coral growths? Or the other theory is prismatic weathering. There are a couple of people in the bg for scale. The columns are 5-7 metres high.
