Walking around Sijsele.

The cobblestone road runs past the castle to a beautiful forest area
The Castle is not accessible to the public, private property.
Castle domain accessible via a long access line.
The domain used to be a hunting ground for the French Court, which included a hunting pavilion. From the surroundings one has vistas to the castle and the adjoining buildings. This walled castle is located in a park with compartmentalization of the space.

Hello John,
Another beautiful view of a diagonal road with trees on both side. The warm light creates an atmosphere that I usually don't connect with December, and the low angle of the sun has produced some very attractive shadows of the trees, stretching a long way across the still very green field. In the far distance there is a nice view of a country church. The horse-cart is a surprising feature so far from the tourist streets of the cities. It is a perfectly composed photo from more than 13 years ago.

Hi John,
Old cobblestone road is quite special, and trees on both sides look very nice. Low angle light is excellent and long shadows of the trees give strong sense of perspective.

Hi John,

No snow in the month of december, today in Montreal there is a major snow storm. The length of the road is creating depth and perspective. You have captured well the movement of the carriage. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the bell tower in the background. Have a nice day.

Hello John, a lovely point of view. I like the composition where the vanishing point is to the edge of the frame.

Hallo John,
Een prachtige landschap met de bomenrij rechts en het vlakke land rechts en het dorpje met de kerktoren in de verte. Het licht was schitterende, het geeft een mooie warme gloed, maar vooral zijn de lange schaduwen van de bomen het mooiste detail van de foto.

Hello John, I do not see here the castle but the nice old road lined with the trees. Interesting vehicle. I like the shadows of the trees on the lawn. Superb composition. Fantastic light in the afternoon.

Hello John,

This time, without the canal but still revealing the excellent, linear perspective of the tree lined road. The strongly placed carriage animates and scales the scene.
The light is absolutely beautiful! The low sun is warming the tall tree trunks, which then cast long shadows across the flat field!
Though photographed in December, there is a subtle warmth about the whole scene.

The light is really quite delightful. The image is well composed with the road running toward the vanishing point creating depth and perspective. The carriage is well placed and offers an interesting focal point; the church tower makes a nice counterpoint. Superb colours and clarity. An image beautiful to behold.

Hi John,
brilliant effect with the perspective. The light was magnificent and the long shadows of the tall trees make attractive lines pointing towards the village.
Surprisingly the path leads away from the village, around it.
Nice that you have the carriages further in the road, it looks so eye catching.
I suppose you must be hiding behind one of the tree shadows...

Geen mooier licht dan op een heldere winterdag als de zon laag staat en lange schaduwen over het landschap werpt. Ik denk dat je hier vandaag ook wel een prachtige foto zou kunnen maken als hij bij jullie net zo sneeuwt als hier in Haarlem. De eerste centimeter is gevallen, maar veel meer wordt er niet verwacht. Geen meters sneeuw zoals in de Alpen.

Hi John,
this is another of your great photos playing with the perspective of some path, some trees or some canal.
In this case, the cobblestone road and the trees lead our eyes towards the infinite, while some vehicles adds a good reference of the distance.
I must say that I love the low sunlight, the long shadows created, the warm tonalities, and the transmitted sense of peace of the ensemble.

Prachtig met de lange diagonale lijnen in het veld, tegengesteld aan de diagonaal van de kasseien weg.
Heel mooi ook met de kerk die we links in de verte zien.
Niet enkel in Brugge zelf kan je nog paardenkoetsen vinden.
Mooi licht en zeer helder beeld.

I know you said the castle is not open to the public, but can you at least get close enough to it to take photos? Or do you have to be far away like this view? great to see the long casting shadows of the trees, thats a huge plus, as are the long lines and perspectives. wonderful. cheers

Nice to dig out old pictures !
Another one of your beautiful diagonal POV's lined with trees. This cobble-stones road is quite special and you have captured it beautifully in the late autumn sunlight, with the horse-drawn vehicle and bicycle giving a good dynamic.
The pattern created by the shadows of the trees is very elegant and the village in the background with its church spire is a good point of interest.

Hallo John, what a charming countryside road! The trees planted on each side create a lane where it is pleasant to cycle. It enters deeply in that rural area and allows to discover places off the beaten tracks. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.
