I took this picture during a bike trip between Belgium and the Netherlands.

Meulekreek in Dutch:
At the intersection of the three provinces of East, West Flanders and Zeeland lies the name of a larger city on Walcheren: Middelburg-in-Flanders. Founded by Castle Lord Pieter Bladelin. And with its beautiful 'Meulekreek' around it is a fascinating nature walk.
Today, Middelburg is a charming miniature village in the extreme corner of East Flanders, but it has ever been different. In the Middle Ages it was a real city with a beautiful castle and an equally interesting as turbulent history. The rich past of this ever-sparkling city and its prestigious castle can now largely be hidden, the street plan is still similar to that of medieval Middelburg in Flanders! Middelburg was therefore the first village in Flanders to be classified as a protected archaeological monument
