Photographer's Note

I thank everyone that brought a visit to my 900th picture to TE.

Saturday afternoon I was in Ghent, the first time after my accident, I can already walk and again pictures make, little bit in slow motion.
We got very sunny moments, this gives a excellent result, you can see about the Leie, the river the ‘Korenlei’ in Dutch with the a lot old houses.
One year ago was te last renovation end

You can see from left to right:
- House "The City Doornick"
- House "De Swaen"
- House "The Fortune" (16th century brewery)
- House "Den Ancker is the guildhall of Involuntary Schippers
- House "Five Hellemen" (16th century inn and brewery)
In foreground the a lot chairs wait on a lot tourists.

I hope that enjoy of these city picture.

Een ansichtkaart uit Gent waar ik nog nooit geweest ben. Maar het lijkt zeer fraai met historiche gebouwen die zeer kleurrijk overkomen. Je hebt hier tevens rekening gehouden met zowel het perspectief alswel de vervorming, want alles staat superstrak in het beeld...perfect..!!!!

Une très belle terrasse. Une vue qui donne envie de s'y assoir.
La perspective s'étend sur les tables et sur le canal. Les couleurs sont très bien saturées et le bleu du ciel répond agréablement au bleu des tables.

Hallo John,
De meeste foto's die in deze omgeving gemaakt worden, tonen meestal de huizen op de andere oever. Die dus van het terras.
Fijn dat we ook eens een foto zien van de huizen aan de overkant. Je kent ze zelfs alle met hun naam.
Mooie compositie met het lege terras en de blauwe tafeltjes. De groene planten lijken de Leie te volgen tot aan de brug.
Prachtige architectuurfoto met een stralend weertje.

Hoi John,

Het is dan ondertussen ook weer terrasjes-weer geworden in Europa? Waar ik nu zit is het dag in dag uit terrasjes-weer. Hoewel, op dit moment komt er heel toevallig een kleine moesson uit de hemel. Maar ik zit nu dan ook binnen, dus het maakt niet uit ;-).

Good morning John,

The presence of the people on the edge of the canal has an effect of scale. The point of view is taking our eyes toward the buildings in the background which is giving depth to the photo. The lampost are framing well the canal. The sky is sending a good light which is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Ik stel met plezier vast dat je weer op de been bent, nu nog op de fiets en alles is weer goed.De foto is ook goed, heel geslaagd. De kleuren zijn goed gesatureerd. Ik heb een opmerking...Den Ancker is volgens mij het huis van de 'niet-vrije schippers' (Eng. unfree of unenfranchised). Involuntary betekent 'onvrijwillig'. Maar dit doet dus niets af aan de kwaliteit van de foto. Mijn verontschuldigingen voor deze opborreling van mijn opleiding regent Germaanse talen en hartelijke groeten uit een druilerig en koud Luxemburg.

Cette place est une véritable invitation à s'installer sur l'un des fauteuils, commander une boisson et laisser aller à contempler la vision offerte de la bonne de ville de Gand que j'ai visitée il y a bien longtemps. Mais, rien ne semble avoir changé, le charme opère toujours autant.

Een foto te laat, maar desalniettemin gefeliciteerd met het behalen van de 900 foto's! Een indrukwekkend aantal! Ik vind het leuk om dit stukje van Gent te zien, aangezien ik hier afgelopen maand, toen ik onderweg naar Leuven was en een omweg via Gent maakte, ook ben geweest, voor het eerst, want ik had het een paar jaar geleden toen ik voor het eerst in Gent was gemist. A lively composition of this historical city. The quay along the canal forms a diagonal tht leads the eye towards that interesting red building in the bg. The people enjoying the sun sitting by the canal make us thing of a feast.

Olá John, good to know that you are better and ready to press the button of your camera again. Indeed, this image shows a pretty sunny day in Ghent but it seems that the people are more interested in being sitted by the cannal than having a drink in the splanade. Wonderful wide perspective with the atractive arquitecture filling nicely the background.

Ik zie deze nu pas en wat een fraaie Ghentse plaat is het! Wat een fijne architectuur allemaal weer en natuurlijk nopot het terras om even plaats te nemen. Veel bekende gebowen, een grote diepte en natuurlijk uitgevoerd in aanprekende kleuren en scherpte. Fraai werk John en fijn om u weer aan het werk te zien!
Fijn weekend uit een wat bewolkt Rotterdan bij 18 graden C.

This is a nice shot of this great architecture. Your composition is great with the inclusion of the tables in the foreground. The angle of the shot is fine giving the scene a sense of direction and depth. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF.

A beautiful view of this amazing place, the old buildings with their facades in different colors produces a stunning contrast of colors. I would love to be sitting in this open air restaurant at this moment. It seems that there are still a little bit of cold, the people enjoying the sun are wearing coats. Wonderful composition.

A very nice reminder of my stays in Gent. I remember the Kornlei so very well. And I can see our favourite cafe, the Calisto, just to the left of the umbrella, and the Gravenstein castle in the background. Pleasing angle of view, nicely cropped, very colourful. And congratulations on passing 900 pictures.

Good shot of Gent, where I have not been so far, but I have read a lot about the city. Must be a very interesting place. Good framing of an empty outdoor restaurant, while some people are sitting next to the river resp. canal. Fine architectural details in the row of city houses. Good light management and vibrant color hues. Well done. Thanks for your critique of my fisherman daily life shot.
