Photographer's Note
‘Villers-la-Ville - Abbey arches in green’
During the French Revolution, the monks of Villers Abbey were chased away and the abbey was abandoned.
However, it never became overgrown by nature.
Here are the greenest pictures I've taken of the abbey. So it’s always only ivy on the walls.
Of course here no scenes as in Angkor Wat :)
Just before my main photo was taken, a man was walking on the path. Unfortunately, he went too fast into a side path and didn't come back.

Hello Paul
A beautiful view of this monastery window that shows the corridor on the other side of the wall. Ivy gives the monastery a sense of life. I like the picture of workshop number two.
You were right, this seagull was for Lake Van.

Bonjour Paul,
La longueur de l'allée donne du dynamisme à la scène. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines de l'abbaye de Villers et du lierre. La lumière rehausse les couleurs de l'image Bonne journée.

Hello Paul,
Four good photos with a focus on the green walls of the abbey. This and the almost similar WS #3 are more or less equally possible as main uploads, and so is WS #1 with a close view of a wall (with peep holes of a courtyard). You were obviously very enthusiastic of your visit here, considering that you have by now shown quite a lot of photos.
Best regards,
Gert

I red carefully your useful
notes that during the French

Salut Paul,

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Lepo zelenilo na staroj arhitekturi, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i perspektivom.
Dobar rad, sa lepim fotografijama u radionici.
Priroda radi svoj posao.
Lepa rusevina opatije sa brsljenom na zidovima.
Zelim vam sve najbolje.

Hello Paul,
Another fantastic view from these immaculate ruins. The ivy has decorated the walls well.

Hi Paul
It's a beautiful photo (even without the inconsiderately fast walking man). I like the combination of red bricks and all the greenery but the best thing is the composition with the arches disappearing in the distance.
Good crop and I think the other WS could also be the main post (another main post, not instead of this one, which is very much my favourite).
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Paul,
What did you do to the poor man that he never came back from the abbey? I suppose the ruins are so extensive that it is easy to get lost there or hide a body...
The tunnel in between the arches looks great. The green framing is very pretty. Maybe it was arranged by someone who spent holidays in Cambodia?
Great reportage,
M
