CHURCH AND CEMETERY DAMME

Tijl Ulenspiegel, folk figure
The spirit of this folk figure can still be found everywhere in Damme. One of the walls of the Damme cemetery has a sculpture by the artist Koos van der Kaai and a group of sculptures about him by Jef Claerhout on Damse Vaart. In the Literary Museum of Damme (in Huyze de Grote Sterre, where the Tourism Office is also located) you can learn more about the life and works of this prankster - folk hero. 2004 was the Uilenspiegel year for the city of Damme; the Uilenspiegel Museum was also renovated.

Interesantan i lep pogled, dobar tekst ...
Lepo drvo i stara arhitektura, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i perspektivom.
Dobar rad, lepa fotopgrafija.

Hallo John,
Wat een indrukwekkende toren. De scherpte van de foto laat de details van de bakstenen mooi zien en het warme licht zorgt voor een mooi contrast met de blauwe lucht. Goede compositie met de bomen aan de rechterkant.

Hello John,
This is similar to the earlier photo but shows us part of the church from a slightly different angle. This time the focus is mainly on the tall tower, which is very impressive and beautiful. The clear weather and perfect light remained the same between the two photos.

I like the warm light bathing the scene dramatized by the overwhelming church framing the old graveyards. So quiet and a thoughtful capture blended with some rich colours and splendid contrast to blue sky. Lovely lens work

Zoals ik al eerder gezegd heb, dergelijke kerktoren is echt heel opmerkelijk voor iemand die uit Brabant komt.
Mooie combinatie van de toren en de knotwilg op de voorgrond.
Het heldere weer en de blauwe lucht zorgen voor een prachtig licht.
Een foto met goede diepte en uitstekende scherpte.

Hello John, I saw the Tijl Uilenspiegel Museum in Damme but I was not inside. I can't see the figure here in this cemetery photo. Nice view of the church tower taken on a sunny day. But I like most this winter willow tree.

Hi John,
I remember the previous photo with the alley of the trees on both sides. This was taken just few steps away and the result is so very different. I love the presence of the tower and how it is balanced with the close view of the trees on the right side.

Good pair for your earlier upload. This time we see the square tower. And a little more of the surrounding cemetery. Shape of the tower is not very usual I think.

Hello John,

From your previous photograph of this church, it was impossible to see the tall tower but, here it is looking splendid against the blue sky.
I like how you have included the winter tree; it anchors the f/g and makes a very good, diagonal link with the tall tower.

Great view under bright daylight, John.
The old tower and arches on its side marvelously in contrast to the blue sky.
The naked tree enable better sight upon the place.

excellent view of the tower of this old church. I liked the simple and rustic aspect of the tower and these elements around. I liked the contrast between the golden and the blue here.

Hi John,

A well composed photo of this old church and its cemetery. The leafless tree on the right balances the church tower on the left. There is a beautiful light filling the scene. I would make the shadows darker to give the photo more impact.
