Photographer's Note
‘Lissewege - White polder village’
Lissewege is a small village in the polders in the west of Flanders, not far from the sea.
A polder is a low-lying tract of land enclosed by embankments known as dikes.
In 2014 the village had 2.431 inhabitants.
The houses in the centre of Lissewege have been painted white for centuries.
The church, whose tower you can see rising above the houses, dates from the 13th century.
It is possible to climb its 264 steps but only in the summer season and despite the beautiful spring weather we're still enjoying, March was too early.

Hi Paul,a nice trip and a perfect day in this town built on land protected by dams. Really nice and relaxing and with few people around. Obviously for me the most interesting photo is that of the restaurant, certainly here we cook like in the old days, being able to savor the recipes of the local tradition, top quality as always. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Paul,
Just on time with the light condition. The white low-level house dated 1910 and looks as well kept, wooden green doors and windows shutters, shown an elegant facade.
Good evening,
Ike

Hallo Paul,

Hello Paul,
This looks like such a pretty and idyllic place that I might have thought it's a kind of museum village, protected by the Unesco and not allowed to change. It's clearly very small, since the church tower seems to be visible regardless of photo angle. Each photo has its advantage, so as usual any of them could have been a main post. You managed to avoid overexposing the white walls in all of them. I suppose you had lunch at De Goedendag?
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Paul,
The weather has been lovely for several days which has really benefitted the fresh mood and the well saturated colours in your photograph. How lovely that the tradition of painting the houses white has continued; the white walls, red roofs and blue sky look great with your fine composition.
The w/s are equally attractive.
My warm regards,
Bev 😊

Hi Paul,
Lovely collection of photos from your recent trip within Belgium. I like the step facade here and the inscription in the old stylish font. At the back there is a nice church tower to admire. I suppose you will return in the summer for the view.
Great weather day, beautiful outcome,
M

Hello Paul, You had a break, I was a bit worried. Also, John M. has disappeared recently.
It looks a bit like a railway station. Charming building. Nice also the Workshop photos. Such white walls need to be repainted often, I suppose.
best regards MAlgo

Salut Paul,

Hallo Paul
Belgium seems to be chock full of interesting old architecture and not just confined to Bruges either, but throughout the whole country including Brussels. A real pity I missed it. Tfs!

Hello Paul,
The white paint really makes these houses stand out, and I like the charming, architectural style, too. The bright, blue sky, and the church tower peeking out above the roof, are also nice. Take care!

Hi Paul.
Splendid composition with this beautiful building that looks magnificent with its whiteness and that blue sky, the red tiles is the ideal complement, I see in the auction that the construction is from 1910. Equally magnificent, the two photos of the WS all in white surprise, I think it should not be very common in Belgium, because in Andalucia its white villages are normal.
Very nice color, which together with good sharpness and optimal lighting, gives great quality to the image.
Well done. I like it a lot
You have a good day.
Very best regards
Luis.

Lepa stara arhitektura, dobro pokazana sa lepim bojama i kontrastom.
Dobar rad sa lepim fotografijama u radionici.
Lep deo sela i toranj sa satom u opozadini iznad krova.
Zelim vam sve najbolje.
