‘Kortrijk - Broel Towers during the blue hour’

I couldn't resist taking a photo of the Broel Towers during the blue hour as well.

But maybe you prefer the day view in WS2.
That’s actually a very classic photo of Kortrijk that you often find on postcards. To my surprise, no one else had shown this classic view on TE before. Of course Kortrijk isn’t that much visited by foreigners.

The towers are a remaining part of the medieval wall surrounding the city.
The oldest tower, the 'Speytorre' (right in the photo) was built together with the Broel Bridge in 1385 to control traffic on the Lys.
The second tower, the ‘Ingelborch Tower’ (on the left) dates from 1415 and served as a weapons depot. It was intended for the use of artillery. Hence its second name 'Armorietorre'.

Hallo Paul,
Een prachtige avondfoto van deze twee iconische toren aan beide zijden van de brug. De warme tinten van de torens en de bogen van de brug zorgen voor een mooi contrast met de diepblauwe hemel.

Dat is werkelijk een heel mooie foto
Het licht onder de bogen van de brug is subliem.
Ook de toren hebben een prachtig kleur.
Echt een mooie blauw uur foto, proficiat.

Hello Paul,
Each of these photos has its own strength and its own charm, so I can't really say that I prefer this or that. In the main photo I like the yellow light under the bridge almost as much as the towers. It contrasts so well with the dark blue evening sky. WS #1 has fine depth and nice reflections and the most colourful view is really colourful. Maybe a slightly conventional postcard view, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. ;-)

A stunning night scene upon the two identical ancient towers, Paul.
Comparison to the daytime pictures, shows well your choice about this.

This is a most attractive shot!
The towers looked amazing by daylight but, with the illuminations, they look positively magical!
You chose an excellent viewpoint, capturing the repeating arches with their golden hues and reflections!

Each photograph could have been a main post, but this is the star!

Bonsoir Paul,

J'apprécie les reflets de lumière sur l'eau. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des tours et du pont. La lumière de l'heure bleue a un effet spécial sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

I like both the night and day photos. The sky in the blue hour shot is very nice, and I really like the flowers in the daytime scene. It's nice to see these old towers still watching over the town.

c'est superbe, belle réalisation cette vue à l'heure blue nuit ... belle composition avec cette symétrie et les compléments, pont et reflets sur l'eau, excellente qualité. Intéressantes vues en WS mais je préfère cette prise de nuit, bravo !

Hi Paul,
this is a perfectly executed blue hour photo! The two towers make a lovely and quite unique repeated motif.
The sky has just optimal brightness and color.
I have returned from my holidays on Lanzarote but I didn't actually find time to take any blue hour photos there.
