Siphon J- I, a photo from West-Vlaanderen, Flanders

Photographer's Note

Saturday morning a very cold morning, excellent for taken a morning picture.
A wonderful strong blue sky with a little bit misty in background.
I have this photograph taken picture as result to the next week for the international contest with a lot skaters.
I hope that I can bring a reporting with more than thousand skaters as subject.

It frost weather brought in some waterways in the province becoming a layer of ice.
Many people already skate, but it is too early for that.
The ice must be flowing at least 12 centimeters are for safe skating.
Since yesterday Brugse check the fire brigade every day on the ice on the Damse shipping.

Thus it takes just for the “Zwin Stedentocht” can take place. It is already ago in 1997 that the journey of 100 kilometers between Bruges and Sluis skating was. Recreational and catering look as from the last time “Zwin Stedentocht” attracted more than 10,000 skaters and walkers. While it is still far from certain that the trip will come this year.
The weather reports are very positive, but the weather shall decide.
Four time Sluis (Holland) Bruges Belgium and back.

This is another wonderful shot of the canal and the treeline along the sides. Beautiful light and nice blue sky with a touch of warm tone. Lovely composition. Perhaps if you could have avoid the pile of debris in the lower right hand could have make this image a bit cleaner. Thanks

A wonderful shot...the colours are really wonderful. Love how the ducks swim in the cold water which is partly frozen. perspective is superb with the blue sky, merging with the pink in the horizon as our eyes are drawn towards the end of the tunnel. Wonderful indeed!

Nu zeggen die punten mij niets over de kwaliteit van een foto, maar hier kan men toch niets anders concluderen dat hij zowel technisch als in de presentatie perfect in elkaar zit. Als ik terug kijk naar je laatste uploads dan springt deze daar toch wel bovenuit en verdient dan ook alle lof...vakwerk.

Hi John, I have always admired your photos of these long straight canals. They look ideal for skate racing. The bare trees still look good without leaves. Some people who designed and planted these many years ago had a lot of foresight. TFS. Murray.

Cold mist hang over the canal while it was a bright morning, John, and you very well taken this advantage, and taken a marvelous winter shot.
