Walking around Ghent 2004.
With the introduction of the euro in 2002, the administration of the National Bank of Belgium could gradually contract.
In 2009, this neoclassical building from the beginning of the 20th century became too large for the East Flemish department of the National Bank.
The University College Ghent has bought it to include classrooms and an art library.
I hope that you enjoy it

Hallo John,

Hello John,
Excellent capture of this rather curious looking building, the age of which is difficult to determine. I like the point of view and the contrasting framing offered by the vegetation. The whole is well exposed with good colour contrasts and sharpness.

Hello John,
It's a very odd building in a style - or maybe several styles - which I would find it hard to define. But it is interesting to watch, and considering the institutions that have used it I suppose the trees are meant to be growing all over the façade, and are not signs of long neglect. It is as always a very well exposed photo.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello John, a good close view of this neo classical building.
I was surprised to discover its situation, not imagining buildings of this style in Ghent.
I like the point of view. The greenery is very attractive.
It sounds as if it has been put to good use, after the closure of the bank.
Regards Jean.

Hello John
A strange looking building that somewhat resembles the Hanging Gardens of Babylon or at least how I would envisage it. Good sharpness and a pleasant diffused light. Nice reflections at the bottom. Tfs!

Bonjour, cher ami John,
Voilà une composition attire forcément le regard par rapport à l'architecture peu conventionnelle.
L'intérêt est manifeste.
La photographie est très réussie.
Amitiés.

Hi John
Neo Gothic all bundled together and I like the way you see things., which is nicely framed and some great detail. It's earthy tones counterpoints the background sky. Intriguing architecture, Congrats

Hello John,
I would not immediately have attributed this building to Ghent. It seems to have a very individual style, reduced from any sense of severity by the many examples of greenery growing around it.
I think I would have loved to be tutored in a building like this when I was studying! It really seems to give a sense of place, of individuality!
As always, you have exposed the scene extremely well, with very natural colours.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi John,
fist time I think that a bank got smaller :)
Beautiful building! It has some old and new elements and everything well set amidst green vegetation.
Also the sky provided interesting design.
Nice final effect, very pleasant to look at,

Hi John
I don't think you have shown us this building before, i'm glad you have now. it's very photogenic and I enjoy its exterior styling. Good to learn they are still using it, as a library and classroom. very clear and sharp image, good one here.

Hi John.
Elegant and beautiful neo-classic construction, I love how in its different heights possibly terraces are used for trees and shrubs, which adds a great beauty to the garden building.
Well done. I like it.
Enjoy a good day
Best regards.

Hello John,
Effective way the garden planted about each level of the beautifully built mansion alongside the canal. Now it belongs to the bank.
Excellent light managed, not an easy task here, I'd say.
Good afternoon,
