EVENT in the rain (showers)
Adegem Cemetery
I have asked permission from the guides from Canada to be allowed to photograph this man
Among other things, this man Cidney Cole, (100 year old) my parents freed me from the enemy, being the German army.
They came to liberate us on 13 and 14 September 1944.
On Sunday 8 September, Maldegem Adegem paid tribute to the fallen soldiers of the Second World War, who are buried in the Adegem Canadian War Cemetery.
The ceremony with flower tribute started at 10 a.m. and took place in the presence of a representative of the King, the Canadian, Polish and British ambassadors or their representatives, various former combatants and patriotic associations. “On the occasion of 75 years of liberation, a Lockheed C-130 Hercules and the Formation team The Victors flew over the cemetery at the start of the ceremony.
In addition, in the context of the commemoration of the Battle of the Scheldt, a Canadian delegation attended part of the ceremony in Maldegem. Then those people travel on to the ceremony in Antwerp.
A large audience had come up
I hope that you enjoy it

Hello John,
It's an excellent portrait of this veteran who travelled all the way to Belgium at the respectable age of 100 to take part in the memorial ceremony. We can see from the persons in the background what a solemn occasion it was. You managed a razor sharp photo with perfectly handled light.
Regards,
Gert

Hi John,
You have captured well the concentration of the WWII canadian veteran Sydney Cole. The point of view is showing the details of the popy and of his medals. The light has agood effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello John
The memories filled with comradery, patriotism, horrors, Honor, service, blood and sweat, and most of all.... sincere loyalty to there fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Your capture is a rarity here. They are walking history books in the purest form. Our Honor flights out of Orlando to Washington D.C. are having fewer participants due to many of our vets are passing on. A wonderful image of Honor. Thank you.

Hello John,
I have been interested to see quite a number of old soldiers who were involved in the Second World War and what memories they have to share!
This photograph of Sidney Cole, in full uniform, proudly wearing his decorations and travelling all the way from Canada for the tribute, just confirms how important this ceremony was for him.
You have captured this special moment in his life with a very sharp and very moving photograph.
The b/g, though suitably blurred, is very important in portraying the mood of the occasion.
I know how important this photograph is to you, too, John.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hallo John,
Erg goed gedaan!
Vele groeten, Paul

Dear John,
Its a fine portrait of this man, who participated in this important historic event. By the way did you observe that those, who survived WW II as soldiers tend to live long? Or its only my conclusion.
Best Wishes,
Gy

Hallo John,

Bonjour, cher ami John
Il ne faut pas oublier les vétérans, même si certains jeunes trouvent cela un peu "ringard".
Il faut connaître son histoire, le passé de ses ancêtres, c'est important.
Amitiés.

Hello John,
It's amazing that this gentleman was able to travel so far at the age of 100. This is a lovely portrait. His eyes and face have so many stories to tell. He proudly displays his medals while wrapping up to keep warm. As the years pass, there are fewer veterans alive who actually served during World War II, so it's great to honor them.

Dag John,
Groet Rob

Hello John
A superb head and shoulders portrait of the aged Canadian veteran from WWII. His impressive collection of medals are authentic too, unlike a certain President in the Western Hemisphere! Get well soon if you can read this.
