Photographer's Note
The Kings's Square (Koningsplein) is an open square located on the site of the old Coudenbergh palace, which went up in flames in the 18th century.
On/near the square are several museums and the Saint Jacob church (behind me here). THis is the view towards the center of the city. The building in black in the back is the Old England warehouse, now the Museum of Musical Instruments.
The statue of Godfrey of Bouillon dates from 1849. Godfrey was a leading figure in the first crusade, playing an important role in the 1099 siege of Jerusalem.
Not politcally correct these days, but Godfrey played a role in the formation of Belgium, being considered one of the founding heroes of the country back then. Oh, mythology...

Hi Benny
Impeccable sharpness, with pleasant pastel colours and good framing and composition. The central equestrian statue and rider make a fine focal point. Tfs!

Hi Benny
Wonderful capture of a very beautiful town square with surrounding architectural interests, I would quite happily sit here for a few hours. That statue has given an extra interes.
Best regards

Goedenavond Benny,
Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit oost- Vlaanderen,
John

Dark sky goes really well with the shining white buildings. Great light and atmospheric conditions for this kind of photo. Not as famous as the Grande Place, it looks like a pleasant place to visit during a city walk.
You made me realise that I know more about the first crusade than the history of Belgium - something to think about next time I choose a book to read!

Hi Benny,
great dark grey clouds well contrasting with well lit foreground. This is a level of contrast which we like to see.
Plenty of wires around but luckily they didn't damage the mood.
The city seems relatively empty, I suppose it is in the Covid times.
Very well seen and captured,
M
