The Catholic Church of St. Francis Xavier in Grodno (Farny)

This Catholic Church – the Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier – received the name Farny because this word is derivative from the word “parafialny” which means main. As a rule, the Catholic Church is open from early morning till late evening. It is always crowded, tourists are eager to go inside the temple to see the interior of this great structure.

The Catholic Church of St. Francis Xavier was founded by Jesuits in the 17th century. That building was a part of the Jesuit monastery and that is why it had been also called Jesuit for a long time. The construction of the church lasted about 100 years, and the temple itself has been located in Grodno for over 300 years. Nothing broke it over the years; it has been preserved in its original form. The Church is visible from different parts of the city, all tourists, who have ever been to Grodno, will always remember its shape. This is, undoubtedly, an attraction that exists out of time.

Cześc Piotrze, Całkiem długa seria z Grodna, a mnie się wydaje że już tak długo pokazuje Chiny. A są przecież większe :). Bardzo ładny kościół z niebieskimi wieżami, urocze chmurki. Jak to na Białorusi, pięknie czyściutko i porządnie.I dużo ludzi o dziwo, w Mińsku było raczej pusto i to mimo święta. wydaje mi się, że widziałam Franciszka Ksawerego w trumnie na Goa.

It's a very well taken photo with cleverly managed light and beautiful colours. The church is elegant and from this view there is a nice lead up to the façade. The flowers and the many people brighten and enliven the view.

I like the point of view and the almost symmetrical framing. The foreground path makes a good lead-line directing us towards the crowd and then the magnificent cathedral beyond. Perfect exposures assures excellent colours and clarity.

The red magenta fg contrasts well with the blue sky to give a pleasing warm cold color contrast. Good sharpness and framing. The twin towers of the bg church add symmetry. Tfs!

Beautiful picture of the church of St. Francis Xavier in Hrodna. Also interesting to see the parallels and the contrast with the cathedral in Helsinki. I wrote a critique with this church an hour ago.

Czesc Piotr,
jak Franciszek Ksawery tzn Jezuici -i rzeczywiscie IHS jak zawsze bardzo wyeksponowane na fasadzie. Piekny stylowy kosciol, bardzo oryginalna architektura. Podobaja mi sie zielone wiezyczki. Pomimo ze nie miales swiatla centralnie i tak wyglada bardzo atrakcyjnie. Niebo natomoast swietnie ci dopisalo. Chmurki wydaja sie byc trojwymiarowe! Grodno pewnie nie jest az tak ciekawe jak Wilno czy Lwow ale i tak ogromnie jestem go ciekawy. No i dochodzi przyjemnosc zaliczenia kolejnego kraju. Aha ale ktos to mowil ze na Bialorus trzeba wizy :(
