Fresh Snow, a photo from Salzburg, West

Photographer's Note

This is a shot taken during a major snow storm in Austria. This captures a side view of Goldegg Castle, a castle which was built in the 14th century. I felt great walking down that road, may be the photo just doesn't do justice to that atmosphere, I experienced.

How cousy! What a beautiful white snow.. The building to the left and the lamppost to the right gives the photo a even more fairytalish feeling. I wish I was walking down that road also.

Great winter scene on the winding road, with the snow-limned rails and limbs. Soft, cold, inviting (though I'm glad I'm here, wearing shorts and a T-shirt, and not there at the moment. Such weather will come here to Wisconsin again soon enough.) The tower and hedge on the left add interest to the scene, as do the walkers in the distance. Good job!

Another great "mood" photo Shaeri. Great compostion. Nice muted color, emphasizing the feeling of "the morning after a snowfall". Very smooth, soothing, relaxed...

...and I'm interested in where you are going to school in NY - NYU, Columbia, New School (Ha)...???...

Great winter scene on this hot Florida day, how refreshing! Your composition is great using the road to lead the eye through the photo. The people add a nice sense of scale to the shot as well as adding life and motion. The framing of the road with the tower and trees creates a well balance photo.

Ahhhh, this is SUCH a nice scene to see from where I am. It feels like it is never going to cool off here. I love the way the road curves into the shot. Great light and contrast considering all the white you were dealing with. Just a wonderful, COLD looking scene. Have a great weekend,

I love winter wonderlands like this. Photos never seem to do them justice (you can never capture the magical feeling) but this one still looks great. The composition is excellent with the castle on the left, and the people walking along the road provide scale to the photo.

Your image is full of atmosphere with the road leading the eye to the misty haze at the end. The only colour is the yellowy building on the left adding to the cold feel. Well done

WOW what a lovely shot. Good composition and the leading line created by the railing lead the eye to the people walking. The light on the right adds balance to the building as well. I do not know if you sharpened this or not but if not it really adds to the softness of the image. In other words no sharpening is needed. Well done Shaeri.

Hi Shaeri, this is a beautiful picture. Nice composition and POV. It is always hard to take snow photos, but you did a great job on this one. Great ambience. Love the color on the light, it seems that the entire photo is B/W except for that.

You went to Austria too! Darun byapar, that too two years ago. I went to Salzburg in summer & hence no snow. Very well composed with the lead in line of the snow covered road. Love the yellowish tones & the little details viz. the lamppost. Very well composed with the part of the castle well positioned in the frame. Wonderful shot!

Ahh.. This is wonderful Shaeri. I am really impressed with this composition. This is not really black and white and nor it is sepia, but it has the effect. The effect of a gloomy and colourless winter. You have managed this composition with great accuracy. Snow capped tree branches, men in distance, the railing covered with snow taking our eyes towards the distant view-everything just magically fits into place. Wonderful! The experienced photographers say that it is very hard to capture snow because of the problem of adjustment of exposure. But you did a nice job here.

I really need to visit your gallery more often..some real great shots here..I absolutely love this shot..I remember one day in Pittsburg I slept it was normal..the morning I pulled aside my curtain and it was all white..really ethreal as is this shot..just a small suggestion try cropping from the edge of the tower w/o cutting the whole of the tree..will give u a new image as beautiful.

we do not get much snow anymore in Belgium, very very little in Brussels, so I am always happy to see this kind of mood, the magic of it, lovely com. position with the winding road, the few scattered people, the beautiful snow covered branches, I can feel the softness of it, the silence that goes with it...the tower also adds to the crop. Very beautiful.

Reminds me of a walk I did in the Lake District a few years ago. We were stopping in a hotel and when we got up in the morning the scene was just like this. The snow had fallen straight down and nobody had been out yet. What a great feeling. Know how you must have felt Shaeri.
