The horse-drawn carriages are just as much a part of Vienna as St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Giant Ferris Wheel: the fiakers. For many tourists, a ride with the two-horse carriage is one of the highlights. There is almost no cozier way to explore Vienna’s attractions.

The term "fiaker" originates from the French and refers to the hackney carriage stand in the Parisian Rue de Saint Fiacre. In 1720, the carriages - which had previously been referred to as "Janschky" coaches in Vienna - were renamed "fiakers" (and numbered).

A very atmospheric composition with the fiacres providing a delightful focal point. Well exposed with agreeable colours and clarity. I like the reflection of the lights on the wet cobblestones.

C'est vrai que l'on se sent presque dans une carte postale où encore dans une scène de cinéma. La lumière de nuit est belle dans ce quartier. L'humidité au sol donne de beaux reflets.

Hello Daniel,

A wet street always looks better in a night shot, when the artificial lights reflect from their surfaces and brighten the whole scene.

The horse drawn carriages are a good focal point and are nicely staggered in your composition.
I like how the buildings have been used not only as an interesting backcloth but also, to give the thirds composition.
