Photographer's Note

Schönbrunn Palace is a former imperial summer residence located in Vienna, Austria. The 1,441-room Baroque palace is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in Austria. Since the mid-1950s it has been a major tourist attraction. The history of the palace and its vast gardens spans over 300 years, reflecting the changing tastes, interests, and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.

I shot this image in December on a grey and cold day, as it can be seen on the christmas decoration and the tree in the centre of the palace. Usually this image of the Schönbrunn Palace is associated with a lot of flowers and nice gardening on a bright sunny spring day.

Post editing workflow:
Cropped image to wide format, desaturated the colour slightly, increased clarity, reduced exposure on the entire image, masked the palace and increased the exposure slightly, masked the centre of the palace again and increased the exposure even more in the centre where the christmas tree is set up, masked the sky and reduced the saturation and increased slightly the contrast, reduced generally highlights to enhance the details of the palace, applied lens correction (distortion).
