Photographer's Note

One of many beautiful buildings along the Vienna Ring Boulevard. If I am not mistaken (if yes I apologise to the history teachers), this one, as well as many other buildings in Vienna are rococo architecture. A couple was observing the building while I was taking the shot.

I wanted to try some new B&W technique here where the image is completely "washed out" from grey and the details near the frame while the centre contains a lot of details and shades of grey. I wanted to draw the eye to the centre of the building and the couple, but in the same time display the lines of the rest of the building. I kind of liked it and will experiment soon again with this "wash-out" technique.

Post editing workflow:
Converted to B&W, extremely overexposed the entire image, then masked the centre and the couple and reduced the exposure again within the mask to bring back the details and the various shades of grey. enhanced the clarity and contrast.

This is an experimental image with artistic touch. I was not sure whether I should post it here. Maybe I was a bit too enthusiastic with post editing for this website but I thought I'll give it a go and risk some complaints ;-)
