Photographer's Note

For many of us who are used to thinking of Albania as the land of mountains and donkies this could be quite non-Albanian! Brand new petrol station with all the modern bits, no potholes, and me taking the photo with my canon compact on board of a 25000 Euro Hyundai with 500 km on the milage meter.(Not mine!). If someone showed this photo to me 20 year ago I could have mentioned any country but Albania.

Whilst the mountainous area are very much what they have always been the Albanian western plain is a true building site with investment pouring in like there is no tomorrow.I hope this is not done on borrowed money!

Interestingly photos like this one are harldy difficult to take these days, it is the "Other Albania" that is fadin away, fast.
