Photographer's Note

The National Museum of History (Albanian: Muzeu Historik Kombëtar) is the national historical museum of Albania and the country's largest museum located in Tirana. It was opened on 28 October 1981 .

Above the entrance of the museum is a large mural mosaic titled The Albanians that depicts purported ancient to modern figures from Albania's history. The museum includes the following pavilions, the Pavilion of Antiquity, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Independence, Iconography, National Liberation Antifascist War, Communist Terror, and Mother Teresa.

An imposing building if somewhat brutalist in style. The symmetrical framing is well chosen, showing the museum to good effect; the passers-by supply scale. Ideally exposed with superb colours and clarity. The saturated blue sky makes a lovely contrasting backdrop. Thanks for sharing.

Good photo of the architecture of this museum and most particularly of the wonderful mosaic above the entrance. The sloping square in the foreground adds a nice sense of dynamism to the photo and the people provide a calm and pleasant mood.

Hello Piotr,
i hope they will never remove this mosaic. It may reflect the artistic ideals of the Communist regime but it is such an iconic feature of Tirana that it deserves to remain here. I enjoyed the museum but the section about Communist terror was "temporarily closed" for obscure reasons. This is a good photo with wonderful clarity and sharpness and the entire area seems to have received a facelift in recent years.

Hi Piotr

I went inside the museum to kill time, which was very close to the intercity bus stop for a journey south to Berat later in the afternoon. I also took a closeup of the magnificent tile decoration depicted here. The wet pavement with reflections adds interest. Tfs!

The split of colour contrast draws the eyes in as a successful element and thanks to brief notes. A solid modern architectural shape, interesting light and colour intensity along with the people give this a beautiful effect and sense of scale. Super shot, Congrats

A picture that looks to me reasonably communistic.
But it represents the country's history well.
Beautifully shown with the pedestrians nicely spread over the square. And no cars like in the communist era.

i love these National History Museums. I'd visit this one for sure. the shot isn't straight, but thats easily corrected in post processing. the light is very bright and illuminates everything so well. and the tiles give a surprising attractive element as well. thanks for this one
