Photographer's Note
While wandering around Trinidad in Cuba I came across this door and thought that the colours were rather interesting. I am not sure what lies behind number 199-A. Trinidad is a UNESCO world heritage site. The Spannish colonial past shows in the many 18th and 19th century buildings with delightful pastel colours, wrought iron railings and balconies. Surrunding these are more modest houses which are still painted in the wonderful colours although some are decaying.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERONE!

Hello Ann
i like symbolic photos and this photo it is so. the absence of depth and that clear numbers between many signs left from the time and the passages are strong and interesting elements.
Happy new year!

Hello Ann,
And a Very Happy New Year to you and yours too!
I rather like old doors and this is a fine example, showing the scars and decay of the years. Lovely soft pastel shades, good symmetrical composition and excellent sharpness.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Ann,
An interesting and beautiful composition with these straight lines and painted fields. Like an inspiration of Piet Mondrian! The colours are in a very pleasant harmony here.
Happy New Year

ciao Ann,
non č mai facile proporre questo genere di immagini.
Devo dire che hai fatto bene lasciando alla ruggine un grande effetto cromatico.

Hi Ann,
It is not very often I visit your gallery, but I know that I could be quite sure to find a number of exciting photos among your latest posts. Often your very own and unique observations of everyday objects or events in the place where you are. This is a very good example of this. Most people would not notice the beauty of this old door. It has certainly a story to tell. You wonder how it was painted when it was new. How and why it got all those different colours, how it got the rusty patch where the number 199-A is written, who wrote it and why. TFS and my best wishes for 2012!

Hello Ann,
The garage door comprised of patchwork of shapes and colors is indeed eye catching scene. The number "199-A" is an subtle focal point.
Warm regards, and Happy New Year.

A capture with simple elements but good graphism.

Hello Ann
Happy New Year to you as well!
This is a very evocative photograph: the signs of use, life, decay are very evident, and give the image the sense of being a portrait, as of an old wrinkled face.

Hi Ann
Like it, great street shot in superb detail showing this old fascade which has nice rustic and abandoned look. Very well cropped, the green walls provide excellent framing. Its so eyecatching, lovely stark grittiness feel to this aged old worn building full of its own character and charm. Excellent tones and contrast, the weathered look really makes for me. Fabulous work,
Best regards

Hello Ann,
This is a kind of ugliness I often find very attractive. Had it been a painting or a lithograph I could imagine hanging it on my wall. The "199-A" is a great little detail.

Hi Ann
yes, when i'm out on a search for architecture, these types of scenes catch my all everytime.
This scene would look fantastic taken in HDR.
I had a feeling the 199-A title would have some intrigue..thats why i viewed it. I too, wonder whats behind that door.
excellent colors and textures.
Cheers

Hello Ann,
I guess that could be called "system-D induced accidental street art", or something of the like. Only in Cuba! Well seen and photographed! I presume that the title imposed itself, but couldn't be better. I think I would have cropped the left side in order to have the same width of Caribbean green on each side, but that's a minuscule detail likely noticed by order-obsessed people only! :)
Cheers,
Claude

Hi Ann,
It's all about the texture and colour in this one to form an abstract artwork. I like the detail of the tiny number engraved on the rusty door and the patchwork of metal plates joined together.
