Photographer's Note

At a height of 1,800 ft (540 m) Laguna de Arenal is a lake covering 48 square miles (124 sq km). With Vulcan Arenal to the east it occupies a tectonic depression between Tilaran and the Cordillera de Guanacasta. The lake was formed in 1973 when the eastern end was dammed by the Costa Rican Electricity Company. (ICE – Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad)

We had left La Fortuna by taxi to catch a boat across Laguna de Arenal for our next stop to visit the Monteverde Cloud Forest. The sky was very dramatic. I had difficulty deciding which shot to post, so there are two alternatives in the WS. here and here

The ND grad was a must I think. Very little PP. I resisted the temptation to brighten it up.
