Photographer's Note
Just to prove that Barbados is not all sun, sand and sea. Here we have bad weather and a walkway into the middle of the sea.
I thought it had a Dali-esque quality to it, which inspired the title. Not that he had any relation with Barbados, or that the picture actually looks like one of his, in fact there is no relation at all, but at least you can sit and ponder on perhaps what I was thinking.
This was taken with my trust(less) - that is it never manages to take a picture when I want - Powershot G2, and post processed in Photoshop (curves and stuff, perhaps a bit of hue/sat). I was actually trying to get a picture of the dolphins tap dancing at the end, but the dang camera wouldn't work - you'll just have to believe me ;-)

Quite a picture. Very ominous looking. Good exposure and everything. Nice job.

Is that a whale at 1 o'clock?
The shape of the timberwork suggests the pier is rocking in the sea.
There is something about this kind of picture, drawing the eye via a human built structure into unlimited natural distance. Still unresolved in my mind is whether the curve of the horizon is a lens effect or curvature of the earth.
See my pier pic (birds standing still, bottoms to wind) at:

An extremely impressing pic! The incredible beautiful combination of yellow, blue and grey in the sky combines with the rich forms of the clouds. And the aquamarine color of the water is just stunning. There is just some noise on the sky. I think that little processing in Neat Image would make your picture perfect.
Thanks for sharing.

Great composition, the ocean and the horizon are wonderful, beautiful view on this agitated sea, I like it, very well done.

great picture, good mood
I think it would be better if you had cropped the top of it - so that the sky would comprise 1/3 of the picture.
I know that the black clouds up there adds to the mood, but in this case the rule of 1/3 would improve the composition greatly

Hi BlueDay,
The colour and detail are amazing (of course, so's the photo, but EVERYONE has told you already!) and also a note I will aspire to equal in my next post. (however, my photos are still a long way away) Love your 'feel' and how it shows in your photos!
Thanks!

Magnificent capture David! Very moody, and with those gray clouds out there is really does look like a peek into somebody's mind... excellent composition and gray tones.

Great perspective and beautiful conditions for this shot. The water seems so rough and hard. The sky is amazing. It's quite a mixed, stormy/calm, kind of scene. The lines of the pier are very nicely captured as are the textures of the wood on top of the sea and sky textures. The sea and sky, with their subtle colors are definitely the parts that draw me into this. Next time you will have to bring some fish for the dolphins so they don't leave until you get the camera to work. ;) Well done.

Very nice capture David. I like the centered choice and the soft colours, really nice. I would crop a bit from top, though, just a personal taste. Very fine shot and excellent captured lighting.

Great composition here! I think a neutral density graduated filter would really bring out the sky more. I'll see if I can give an idea of this in a workshop

Quite impressif shot as it was touching an abstract world. Good balanced color range. I would say show us the way of a refreshing approach to photographie.

David,
I found the very dark clouds at the top somewhat distracting although I do see how they support the surreal image. I've added a workshop cropping them out and then strengthening the remaining sky with the Shadows/Highlights adjustment.
(Oops - reached my limit will post tomorrow)
I agree about the missed shots with the G2 shutter lag - one of the main reasons I switched to the 300D.

Excellent shot. I very much like how you have put the subject in the center of the picture. Guidelines are what they are and not following them can do wonders.
I do find the dark cloud on top rather distracting though. It is unfortunately one of the first thing I noticed.
But I will give you an extra point for the explanation! Very funny!
Ciao!

Je trouve cette photo très belle. Je pense que le mauvais temps est terriblement important dans cette photo. Cette dernière n'aurait pas été aussi impressionnante sous un gros ciel bleu...Encore bravo !

But for the name you gave the picture
I would have skipped it.
But when I opened the full-size,
I saw the journey was closed.
I got a bit disappointed, frankly.
The clouds however again called me to the horizon...
Whatever technical + or - your picture has it calls me...
The black clouds are your mind now, the clouds on the horizon is what you want now...
-------------------------
My comment appeared a bit psychoanalitic but I don't wanna speak scentifically, I told you what I feel about this picture... it is great you gave it this name.

Wow, this is a great photo!
It seems like it would be a great shot for a book or movie cover.. it's like it tells a story just by looking at it. :)
For some reason, I think magical things could happen on that dock! lol
