Photographer's Note
Chilpyk is a Zoroastrian burial site. The Zoroastrian religion predated Christianity, Judiasm and Islam and was the first religion with just one god. They used this, the Tower Of Silence, to lay out their dead for birds of prey to clean the bodies up and purify them.
After some time the bones were collected and buried in earthenware vessels.
The stucture is made of dried mud and is 15m high with a diameter of 65m. It was originally another 10m higher but the occasional rain is wearing it down. The walk up is steep but not excessive.

Hello Ian, mu neighbour today :),
I have read about these towers of silence and I find it rather macabre. Could you go up there? Terrific composition.
I am also thinking about going to Uzbekistan. Maybe the next year.
This natural tower looks great against the blue sky.
Kind regrads

Bonjour Ian,
On dirait une immense soucoupe volante qui a choisit la plus belle place la plus haute possible où dresser son nid. Belle contre plongée qui donne de l'ampleur à l'ensemble.
Amicalement

Hi Ian.
This was very interesting to see. I hope to go back to the region next year and this will be certainly be something to keep in mind. I hadn't heard about this before. So thanks for sharing, I just learned something new.
Greetings,
Fredrik
