This will be my last photo from this revisit to Uzbekistan for now (there will be more revisits to other places at some stage).
For this one then 3 photos of and around the Kalta Minor minaret that is an icon of Khiva. It looks so "fat" because it was never finished. It was begun in 1851 but when the sultan who began it died so did the project.
In the WS is another one of Kalta Minor as well as one of nearby structures.

Hello Ian,
While I appreciate the inclusion of people in WS#2, this is the more striking composition. This minaret has become such an iconic feature from being unfinished. It was a good idea they didn't keep on building it for 100 years like the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
Best regards,

Hi Ian,
The scene is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the buildings and of the minaret. The quality of the light beautifies the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian,
Yes that minaret looks massive and it is easy to believe that it was planned to be much taller. Blue decorations look wonderful. Sidelight works well giving contrasty result.

Hi Ian
The shades of colour and intricate decoration are very appealing. A really interesting subject that has been well photographed. Good to have the human element too.
PS: Under expose by 1/2 f-stop can still work fine imho.
well done.
Best regards

Hello Ian, an excellent point of view where Kalta Minor dominates the scene. Beautiful colours and patterns.
All three shots give us a real flavour of this place.

Hello Ian,
In my humble opinion, the minaret in your first WS is the most beautiful.
The Kalta Minor minaret is also beautiful, but it is especially striking because of its width.
It stands out because the building was never finished, you write. How high should the minaret actually be? I still wonder what the intention was to build a minaret this wide.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ian,
A great shot of these wonderful buildings. Those guys knew how to slap a few bricks together to get a magnificent result. The minaret glistens in the sunlight, and the tiles make a beautiful pattern with their shades of blue and white. Excellent sharpness and colours.

Hello Ian.
After a few days on the island of Lanzarote, and then others of tourism here in Madrid, accompanying some friends from Barcelona, I am back in good spirits, with all of you.
Impressive and wonderful these monuments of Khiva, I visited it many years ago, now I hope that the Covid passes to be able to go, last year I had a trip that I had to cancel.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent sharpness.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.
P.S. My ideal holidays in Lanzarote, no problems with the volcano, this island is 500 km away. from La Palma.

Hi Ian,
I remember this tower probably because it is so "fat" what makest it recognizable.
Beautiful postcard presentation. Fantastic architecture, wonderful weather helped with great colors.

Hello Ian,
The half-finished minaret and the others have fantastic tiles and designs. I wonder how tall they were planning to make it; being so fat, I would imagine as tall as a modern high rise.
Regards,
MT
